The Yarmouth Mariners won a chippy game against Woodstock tonight, 4-0 at Mariners Centre.
Brent Broaders scored twice on the powerplay, both in the second period and Thompson Phinney made 25 saves for his first career shutout in the MHL.
Aaron Maillet and Campbell Balk also scored, and Matt Barron added three assists.
In the third period, tempers flared a number of times over the final few minutes.
Several players were ejected late.
But the Mariners skated away with the two points, improving their home record to 8-0 and their overall record to 9-2.
The Mariners host Amherst on Friday.
The team also announced the acquisition of forward Keegan Gauthier from the St. Stephen Aces.
Gauthier, along with new pickup defenseman Kevin Stoya are expected to make their Mariner debuts on Friday.
