The team was dispatched to Shelburne last week. Chris Krepsky of the TSB says the ‘Atlantic Destiny’ was off Halifax when some kind of mechanical issue developed earlier this month . None of the 31 crew aboard was hurt, there was no pollution and the vessel was towed to port in Shelburne. Krepsky says TSB regulations require operators of vessels, and other modes of transportation, to report certain incidents, like mechanical issues. “Then based on those reports we would then decide whether we would deploy or conduct a full investigation.” Krepsky says TSB team members interviewed crew members and witnesses and collected some components from the vessel’s engine room. He says those will be tested in a lab as the investigation continues at the agency’s headquarters in Quebec.
