Yarmouth RCMP Seeks Public’s Help In Locating Missing Man

The Yarmouth Rural RCMP have been searching for a man missing from East Kemptville, Yarmouth County, who was reported missing on Feb. 11.

Search efforts thus far have failed to locate the man.

Dieter "Frank" Winter, 64, of Brandee's Lane has not been seen since Feb. 5.

He was reported missing on Feb. 11.

He is known to walk and hike extensively in the area.

*Saturday saw the Yarmouth GPK Refrigeration PeeWee A Mariners come away with a 2 – 1 win over the Clare / Digby Ravens clinching the first round of the Hockey Nova Scotia provincial playdowns.
Mariners’ goals were scored by Alyre Richardson (assisted by Drew Muise and Damien Cottreau) and Blake Newell (assisted by Conner Pother and Ben Lyons).
Scoring for the Ravens was Jean-Luc Comeau, unassisted.
The Mariners will be facing the Acadia Axemen in the next round of the provincial playdowns.

Whitecaps Results From 2019 AA Winter Swim Championships

The Yarmouth Whitecaps Swim Team were in Wolfville this weekend for the 2019 AA (double A) Winter Championships. There were 13 swimmers at this meet, they swam prelims in the morning and finals in the afternoon. The results are the following:

13-14 Girls:
Madison Hubbard (4th in 100m free), Sydnie Barro (5th in 100m Free), Danae Cunningham (5th in 200m back, 1st in 400m free), Peyton Cunningham (5th in 50m breast), Lydia Mooney (5th in 50m back, 5th in 50m free), Chiara Carbonnel (2nd in 50m back, 4th in 50m free, 4th in 200m back, 4th in 200m IM, 3rd in 100m back)

MHL Saturday Results And Sunday Schedule

The Amherst Ramblers are back to trailing Yarmouth by 3 points at the top of the MHL's Eastlink South Division after downing Pictou County 5-3.

Unfortunatley for South Shore, they lost 5-4 to Truro, so they don't gain any ground on the Crushers for the last playoff spot.

Elsewhere, Campbellton upset Summerside, blanking them 5-0, Edmunstron thrashed Valley 9-2, and Miramichi doubled St. Stephen 6-3.

The only Sunday game in the MHL has Valley at St. Stephen.

Mariners Win In The MHL, So Does Summerside

The Yarmouth Mariners edged the South Shore Lumberjacks 4-3 to widen their lead atop the MHL's Eastlink South Division, now at 5 points.

Andrew Martell scored twice with singles from Landon Quinney and Sam Gillis.

Logan Timmons added a pair of assists, Chris Goreham, Brent Broaders, Brett Crossley, Matt Baron, Daniel Surette, and Derrick Johnson each had one assist and Tyler Caseley stopped 21 shots for the win.

Eastlink North-leading Summerside also won, 4-0 over Truro, Campbellton blanked Miramichi 4-0, and Grand Falls downed Valley 7-4.

Attempted Murder Charges

Barrington RCMP responded to several complaints Wednesday morning of shots being fired in the area of Scotts Mill Rd.

The investigation revealed a Barrington Passage man had suffered a minor gun shot wound and other non life-threatening injuries.

The man was treated in hospital and has been released.

The RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crimes Unit is investigating.

The RCMP obtained a warrant and entered the suspect's home Thursday afternoon assisted by the RCMP Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, and the Forensic Identification Unit.

Yarmouth Phoenix Look For 5th Straight Over 35 Title

The Yarmouth Phoenix are looking for a fifth straight title at the Annual Moncton Slowpokes Over 35 Hockey Tournament.
The tournament, Atlantic Canada's largest oldtimers hockey tournament, runs today through Sunday.
