Pollution Reported By Residents Did Not Come From Sewage Treatment Plant-CAO

Residents of Port Maitland are being invited to an open house.

It's being held at the fire hall today and is hosted by the Municipality of Yarmouth.

It's all about the local sewage treatment plant.

Many residents blame the plant for polluting the river, harbour and nearby provincial beach which was closed for several days this summer due to high fecal coliform counts.

The Yarmouth Nova's Finest Fisheries Bantam A Mariners hosted West Hants on Saturday and Sunday. The Mariners lost 3-2 in the first game. Tayvon Gabriel was in the net, Tyler MacLeod had 2 goals with assists from Chase Perry, Luke MacLeay and Shawn Deon.
Yesterday, Braeden Hipson was in the net as Yarmouth fell 5-1. Chandler LeBlanc scoring the one goal with assists from Drew Goreham and Nolan Saulnier.

Started the tournament off with a very close and exciting game against the Clare/Digby team, end results were Yarmouth (2) VS Clare/Digby (1)

Proposal For Industrial Park Focus Of Special Meeting

The Municipality of Argyle is holding a special council meeting tomorrow night (Tues. Nov. 20).

It's to discuss a proposal from Ocean Pride Fisheries in Wedgeport, which are looking to build a new facility in the Tusket business park.

The company wants to construct a sea cucumber processing facility in Tusket.

Company president Jules LeBlanc tells CJLS News he understand some residents who live nearby have expressed their concerns but he says he won't be making his case again tomorrow night.

He says the proposed operation would be a drying facility.

The co-chair of the Yarmouth County Community Health Board says they continuing to grow and build with their focus on food security.

The Health Board will host its third event on educating the public and developing plans for safe, affordable food.

It takes place Tuesday, November 27th at 6:30pm at NSCC Burridge Campus and is titled 'Thoughts for Food - Momentum'.

The board's co-chair tells CJLS News, there will also be an advocacy piece.

Jason Deveau Seeks Federal Liberal Nomination In West Nova

Most recently, Deveau has spent the past three years working as the executive assistant to the current Member of Parliament for West Nova, where he has worked diligently to help address the priorities and concerns of residents from the riding.

He's a resident of the Municipality of Clare, and a former policy analyst with the federal government, where he worked closely with senior government officials on a range of files relating to the environment, natural resources and sustainable development.
